Last Wednesday I had my first wedding related freakout, I was stressed about the bridesmaids dresses not getting ordered on time (we are cutting it super close), the guests list, and finalizing the menu without really being able to talk to Mr. Dalton (since I forgot about the meeting). But by the end of the week everything was ok.
Friday I had a meeting with our wedding venue to finalize the menu and go over many of the small details which put me in the perfect frame of mind to kick my butt into high gear. I have been making checklist after checklist so I can insure no detail goes overlooked; at the same time I'm trying to be realistic and as of today I'm not stressed. Just motivated.
Saturday Mr. Dalton and I woke up and immediately tended to securing our passports that we will need for our Jamaican honeymoon which ended in a bust but we are ready to go this Saturday. We decided we would grab some lunch and make our way to the tux place. I decided we could try out Gent's Formal Wear in Arlington, I love the idea of supporting a smaller business as opposed to a wearhouse.
This is the tux that I love and it looked so dapper on Mr. Dalton. I did decide to go without a vest to give it less formal look and with the pink and white seersucker tie it will look great.
A few weeks ago while my mom and I were shopping we came across these seersucker pants at Crazy8 for Mr. Dalton's nephew our ringbearer. They really look gray in person (the tag says chocolate) and even more so next to the gray pants I had on today. He's going to look sooo cute. I'm also not a huge fan of a toddler in a tux and it doesn't really fit the formality of our wedding so these are going to be perfect.
Mr. Dalton and I also made our way to Bed, Bath, and Beyond once we finished at Gent's to go ahead and register. We managed to spend THREE hours at BB&B. But it was fun and without any major disagreements. We each had 3 items that we could register for without complaint from the other. I don't even remember what our 3 items were. Ha!
As much as I don't really want to, we are also going to register at Target. I'm just not fond of their rigid return policy (I understand why it's there though). But there are a few items I would love to register for that places like Macy's don't carry; such as gardening tools, we don't own a rake, and we need one.
(Side note: I definitely just googled how to use a semi-colon. I thought it was appropriate and since I'm scared my high school English teacher might read this, I want to make her proud. Ms. Fairchild please excuse any other blaintantly obvious grammar errors. Spelling is more my strong suit, espcially given the fact that I had no words in this post misspelled, before spellcheck.)
Moving on. Since I have been eyeing my ever-growing checklists in the last few days let me check off a few things.
- Create wedding website - mostly finished
- register - mostly finished
- ordered paper for invites and thank you cards - invites are designed and ready to print
- guest list - all gathered and entered into one spreadsheet
- tuxes - decided, now we just need to order
- reception menu - decided, I think it's going to be quite yummy
Last but not least my first shower is in the works. I'm so excited and blessed that my Aunt Tammy has offered to throw me a shower which is coming up next month, it will be here before I know it.
